What is HEIC Toolkit?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format on iPhone and iPad. It takes up roughly half the storage of a JPEG at equivalent quality — which is exactly why Apple adopted it. The problem is that HEIC isn't universally understood: Windows apps, Android devices, and countless websites still expect JPG or PNG.

Why we built it
Most online HEIC converters require you to upload your photos to a remote server. That means your private pictures — family moments, documents, anything — pass through a stranger's computer. We thought that was unnecessary.
Modern browsers are powerful enough to handle HEIC conversion entirely in JavaScript, with no round-trip to a server. So that's how HEIC Toolkit works: your files never leave your device at any point. Not during conversion. Not for analytics. Not ever.
We also removed everything that gets in the way: no sign-up required, no watermarks on your output, no file-size caps, no paid tier to unlock batch downloads.

HEIC Toolkit was created by Kunal Dhruval, a software engineer who got frustrated converting iPhone photos and decided to build the tool he wished existed. He keeps it free, ad-free, and maintained.
